A plunger lock is a cabinet lock for sliding doors. The Olympus Sliding Door Plunger line is for bypassing sliding doors: the 300SD and 400SD are pin tumbler plunger locks that come with a matching thimble strike, the 722S takes a small format interchangeable core, and the 723S is a cylinder housing for bypassing sliding glass doors.
Push the cylinder in to lock, and use the key to unlock. Each Olympus sliding door plunger lock mounts in one of the bypassing doors and works with a matching strike. The 300SD and 400SD include a strike locator and a bolt extender for wider gaps between the doors. On the 723S cylinder housing, the core acts as the stop for the interior sliding door. See installation and rekeying.
The names overlap: FJM calls its push locks "push / plunger locks". Tell them apart by keying and mounting. The Olympus sliding door plunger locks use N Series or R Series pin tumbler cylinders (300SD, 400SD) or small format interchangeable cores (722S, 723S) and replace or retrofit common sliding door locks, with a matching strike. The FJM Security push locks use tubular (2610, 2612L, 2615), Pagoda (1635) or disc tumbler (3776) keys and mount in a round hole (7/8", 3/4" or 7/16", depending on the lock).
The 723S is a cylinder housing for bypassing sliding glass doors. It ships with three screw lengths (7/16", 3/4" and 1") for different material thicknesses and takes a small format IC core.
The Olympus 300SD replaces C8142 and the 400SD replaces 02291. The 722S replaces 2S and 2S-TBM, and the 723S replaces 4S. See the cross-reference.
The 300SD and 400SD rekey without removing the lock from the cabinet, using the speed-release button. On the 722S and 723S, you change the SFIC core with its control key. Olympus Lock sells replacement keys and keeps custom keying records on file for adding locks later.
